Looking for a lakefront vacation that is peaceful and relaxing, yet 5 minutes from the fun and excitement of Okoboji?
Escape in a spacious three bedroom suite with all the amenities of home. Enjoy 90 feet of secluded lakefront access, the private use of lower patio overlooking the lake, your own large private dock with bench (tie your boat or pontoon to the dock), a fire pit, and shady backyard! Our treelined shore offers plenty of shade, and beautiful sunsets over Center Lake.
The back patio has table seating and extra chairs. After lunch, walk down our safety-gated and railed walkway to the dock with your tackle and fish the stocked lake! Grab the life-vests and paddle around the lake and adjoining marsh full of turtles, geese and other wildlife in two kayaks available for your use. Slap your marinated steaks and veggies on the patio grill. At night, be sure to cozy up around the fire pit and watch the sun set over the lake.
GUEST QUARTERS:
The guest quarters are nestled in the secluded lower level walkout of our new contemporary home. The lower guest level is separated from the owner’s upstairs private residence by a locked doorway on the stairwell. The guest lower level has its own keyed entry, large covered patio, and private access to the lake. The high ceilings and large windows make it feel open and inviting. Our guests are invited to use the entire backyard and dock as their private getaway!
You will surely love the three nicely sized bedrooms (two have new queen beds, and one has a twin bunk bed and futon couch/bed). The bedrooms have large egress windows adorned with white wood blinds. There is a pull-out queen sleeper sofa in the spacious living room. Comfortably sleeps 6 adults and a total of ten people.
Relax in the living room with a couch, loveseat, recliner, coffee and end tables. 64” LED Smart TV. Free WiFi and Netflix. The living room is a wall of windows with a sliding glass door entry, and HUGE picture window looking out on the backyard and lake.
Kitchen has large double sink, convection microwave oven (works like an oven and a microwave), full refrigerator/freezer and a griddle. Kitchen has a table with four chairs. There is a griddle in the cabinet for pancakes and eggs too!
Washer and dryer in separate room, and one full bathroom with tub. Plenty of night lights in the home to walk safely to the bathroom at night. Floors are water-resistant non-skid rubberized/wood alternative planking, and there is carpeting in the bedrooms and living room. High 8’ high ceilings, canned lighting with bedside and table side lamps.
LAKE AND WILDLIFE:
Our property has an extra-long 92 feet of shorefront. Great for fishing in the stocked lake. This lake sits between West and East Lake. It is a separate and quiet lake. The waters are not rough like Big Spirit. It’s shores are half Department of Natural Resources (DNR) protected areas, and the other half private residences. Pelicans, geese, ducks, turtles, turkeys and beavers are often seen here. There is a public boat launch on the opposite side of the lake (about a 10-12 minute drive) if you would like to bring your boat and keep it tied to our dock. (No hoist available). There is electricity out on the dock.
PARKING/ACCESSIBILITY/COMMUNITY:
There is on street parking. The guest suite is accessible by steps and/or grassy pathway. The home is not wheelchair accessible.
One block away is a beautiful, big park with swing sets, bathrooms and covered tables perfect for hosting a large gathering.
Walmart is a 2 minute drive. Arnold’s Park in Okoboji is about an 8 minute drive. Antique shops, coffee and candy shops, bars, fast food, gas stations, restaurants, landscape and floral center, quaint shoppes, and a wonderful art museum are all within a 2 to 5 minute drive. Lots of nightlife during the summer season. Most summers there are free family friendly concerts on Saturday nights in Arnold’s Park at the marina. There are plenty of paved bike trails in the area as well.
PLEASE NOTE:
We are at the mercy of the weather and dock crews when our dock is put in/taken out. Most years the dock is in by June and out by October, but we do not guarantee that the dock will be in during your stay. If you absolutely want the dock in, please tell us when you are making your reservation and we can make sure you book during times the dock will be in. Thank you so much!
OWNERS ONSITE? Sometimes, but we remain in the upstairs area giving our guests the privacy they deserve. We are always available to our guests either by phone or in person. Let us know if you have questions or if there is anything we can help you with during your stay.
WINTER RENTAL: Hard-core ice fisher? Enjoy the peace of a winter wonder-lake? Between Oct 1 and March 30 you can rent the property for a six month short term lease. Contact owners to inquire.
SMOKING AND PETS: Please, there is absolutely no smoking or vaping inside the home. If you smoke outside please use the can provided for the butts and do not litter.
We do not permit pets. We do a thorough cleaning after each renter. Also, our home furnace is equipped with an air purifier that kills mold, mildew, and eliminates allergens and odors. If you smoke inside or bring pets your deposit will not be returned. Also, it is the guest’s responsibility to clean or pay to replace damaged carpet or furniture to the way it was/like new.
COVID concerns? We thoroughly clean with disinfecting agents.
SAFETY: Every year people drown in our lakes and rivers. Please watch children at all times. Do not allow children on the dock or walkway without an adult AND a life jacket on. Also, wear water socks when in the lake to avoid cutting feet on sharp rocks or other objects. Please do not litter. Thank you for respecting the Center Lake wildlife and habitat.
FIREWORKS? Okoboji has a great fireworks display every Saturday night through the summer. If you’re on the dock you may be able to see it to the south. We do not permit fireworks to be shot off on our property due to the quieter neighborhood and lake setting. We ask our guests to be considerate of our next-door neighbors and try to bring the noise level down by 10 PM.
